Extra Extra: The Newsstand was a VIBE!

On September 23rd, 2022 we have the opening night to The Newsstand, a three day exhibition on the anniversary of The Bodega celebrating the release of a zine collaboration with start-up BIPOC art magazine The Mag with Love.

The zine celebrated New York based BIPOC artists from our collective that represent their culture and communities through their work. The zine was created by The Mag with Love founder and Editor in Chief Shay and features founders Lee Lee La Cubana and Zalika Zeni, gallery partner Extra Ketchup, and collective members Jency Sekaran, Cin4Me, Lovedom, Ant Art, Amanda Jackson and Donuts and Henny. You can view the zine collaboration on the community page of our website!

There are no other words to describe the energy, love and style that the Newsstand pop-up brought out but "We put ON #fortheculture"

We featured a variety of artists such as Donuts and Henny and Jency Sekaran who debuted new work reflective of their cultures and artistic journeys, Cin4Me and Ant Art who made wonderful works of trays and prints reflective of the culture, Afrocentric Keyy, Michelle Busar, MC Hewlett, Eye of Robyn celebrating hip hop culture, K who debuted for her first pop-up showing, alongside founders Lee Lee La Cubana and Zalika Zeni at The Ketchup Gallery. In addition to packing the space with art lovers and supporters, we had rap performances by Mellow NYC accompanied by featured rappers on his latest project. And what would an ode to New York City be without "IT'S SHOWTIME" for the culture, Hypeman Hills a local snare drum performance drummer performed a great set! The drinks were flowing at the bar featuring themed drinks in New York style coffee cups and the energy was contagious. Thank you to all that supported the event!
