On Saturday October 8th, 2022 The Culture Candy team attended Culture Con, a convention for creatives of color by The CCNYC and presented by HBO Max. The Day started early with an 8am check-in, with complimentary tea sponsored by Brooklyn Tea and Nike Yard Runner. Despite the cold weather we geared our track toward the Creator Stage, the outdoor Creator Stage had a series of great talks for creative entrepreneurs who are currently in practice while the main indoor Culture Stage consisted of motivational talks from celebrities and well-known executive professionals. We learned very useful information pertaining to how to provide our audience and artists with a great experience and more opportunities!
The photo-ops were great for the many attendees who dressed in beautifully creative outfits. Activation alley, where all the sponsored pop-up booths, bar and black-owned shopping market were located, was a great experience. In our opinion, LinkedIn had the most beneficial pop-up space, providing attendees with 3 colorful location settings to choose from for a free professional photo to use on their LinkedIn profiles and creative accounts. CashApp and Square provided useful information on their panels along with sponsoring a black-owned business market with 5 vendors. We wish the market portion was larger and offered more opportunities for additional minority businesses to be featured, however we supported with wearable art purchases from a local upcycled denim artist! Drinks were served at 4pm, despite the lines the complimentary drinks from Grey Goose and Patron were delicious and to the rim! Our favorite food truck was Mekina Cafe, they had great vegetable based bowls with rice and bread that kept us full throughout the conference.
We'll definitely be back for another con!
